Ellison’s $50M Ag Venture Chooses Lockhart
Billionaire Oracle Corp. founder Larry Ellison plans to invest $50 million in a Lockhart greenhouse project. The agricultural technology company, called Sensei Farms, will consist of a 283,000 square foot facility at 1205 Reed Drive for advanced controlled-environment agriculture operations.
It includes a 49,000-square-foot warehouse, a 234,000-square-foot greenhouse and nine acres that can be developed later.
The Austin Business Journal reports Ellison has poured more than $500 million into Sensei as he aims to revolutionize the agriculture industry with sustainable farming practices.
Sensei has offices in Santa Monica, California, but has land in Lanai, Hawaii, and Ontario, Canada, where the company owns and operates greenhouses that grow various fruits and vegetables sold in Hawaii, the northeastern United States and Ontario.
