Elite Youth Hockey Program an Added-Value to Hartford Ice Rink Acquisitions
An affiliate of Black Bear Sports Group, Inc., has entered into agreement to acquire Champions Skating Center in Cromwell, CT, and Bolton Ice Palace in Bolton, CT. The prices were not disclosed for the two Hartford-area facilities, which will mark the acquisition of the firm’s 28th and 29th ice arenas.
The transaction includes the purchase of the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack, an elite youth hockey program.
The arenas collectively feature two NHL ice sheets, one Olympic ice sheet, a full-service gym and a pool. They are home to the Whalers Youth Hockey Association and the Eastern Connecticut Stars.
The sellers were Alan Lazowski, founder and CEO of Laz Parking, and former NHL player Bob Crawford, who will join Black Bear’s board of directors.
Black Bear owns 27 ice facilities across the US with 50 sheets of indoor ice, four indoor turf fields, 16 youth hockey clubs, two youth hockey leagues, and three Junior “A” hockey franchises.
