Elgin Site for 200K SF Manufactured Housing Factory
Mosaic Housing has closed on three lots in Elgin, Texas, to build a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing plant for its modular home product. The town okayed the purchase of its land as long as Mosaic adds 100 jobs to the deal. Elgin, a city of about 11,350, is 25 miles northeast of Austin.
The contract stipulates that Mosaic would purchase the land for roughly $1.4 million. The Austin Business Journal reports the company will also be required to hire employees “at a rate consistent with market industry standards” within 18 months of occupancy and the start of manufacturing. Construction must begin within 12 months of closing and be completed within 24 months.
Mosaic says online it “is a producer of large modular construction projects and modular multi-family housing.” The company boasts that it uses robotics and computer aids in the design, engineering and construction process. That allows it to shorten construction times and reduce waste.
