El Rancho Supermercado bought by CA based Heritage Grocers

El Rancho Supermercado’s Bought by CA Grocer

California grocer Heritage Grocer’s Group has absorbed all 27 El Rancho Supermercado stores in Texas and one in Kansas. El Rancho Supermercado stores will continue to operate under their existing name.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Heritage company, based in Ontario, California, currently operates 57 stores under the Cardenas Market brand, 20 Tony’s Fresh Market locations and seven stores sporting the Los Altos Ranch Market banner.

Heritage’s Marisa Kutansky had this, “The team at El Rancho Supermercado has built a strong brand and long-standing relationship with its customers, and by leveraging our collective strengths, El Rancho Supermercado can deliver even greater value to its loyal customers across Texas and Kansas.”

In 2017, Albertsons Co. acquired an equity stake in El Rancho Supermercado to help fuel the grocer’s growth. At that time, El Rancho operated 16 stores in Texas.
