El Paso’s Hotel Paso del Norte Reopens After Renovations

The historic Hotel Paso del Norte in El Paso, part of the Autograph Collection, has reopened its doors for occupancy after nearly four years and a multimillion-dollar renovation. Connect Media reported in August that the 351-key luxury hotel would feature the Plasma Air system, shown to remove 99% of bacteriophage in the air after 10 minutes of use, installed throughout its HVAC system.

Originally opened on Thanksgiving Day in 1912, the hotel was known as the “Showplace of the Southwest.” It was the vision of prominent local businessman, Zack White, to create a first-class hotel that would attract people to the Southwest.

White partnered with Trost & Trost Architects of El Paso and Andrews & Company of New York to put form to his vision. The resulting hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
