El Paso Home Prices Hit Record High in 2017

El Paso home prices (resale) hit a record high in 2017, according to data issued by the National Association of Realtors (NAR). The median home price in El Paso County was $151,500, which was 2% above the 2016 median price, and 9.3% higher than the last record sale price in 2012. New home prices were also higher, topping out at $167,950, according to the Greater El Paso Association of Realtors.

Even with the higher prices, El Paso continues lagging other cities in Texas when it comes to home values. Austin led the Texas metros with a median resale price of $295,800. Nationally, the median resale price was $248,800 another record. Tom Torres with the Greater El Paso Association of Realtors, told the El Paso Times that, unlike other markets across the country, El Paso has a large inventory of homes for sale.
