Edinburg’s Shovels Are Busy; Construction Tops $166M so Far
Anyone driving around Edinburg, TX these days won’t be surprised to learn that the city has approved more than $166 million worth of construction this year. The dollar amount is almost twice as much compared to the same time last year, according to figures from the Edinburg Economic Development Corp.
Most of the construction – approximately 60% — took place in the residential sector. New homes accounted for approximately $41.8 million, while multifamily projects totaled about $58.7 million.
Commercial construction came in at about the $55 million mark, with $32 million invested in new projects, and $23 million in upgrades and improvements. One project breaking ground in October will be Bob’s Steak & Chop House, a Dallas-based restaurant concept.
