Edinburg Issues Permits Totaling $93M in January

Connect is coming to Austin! Learn more here.

The city of Edinburg, TX issued building permits valued at $93.4 million in January 2017. The total was boosted by a building permit valued at $80 million for the Bert Ogden Arena. Still, officials are optimistic that the total construction activities by the end of 2017 will surpass the $209.1 million level set in 2016.

The Bert Ogden Arena, an indoor multipurpose center being built at Interstate Highway69-Central and Alberta Road, is being developed to host entertainment events, including concerts, family shows and trade shows.

The building permits don’t include the value of building-related activities at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and the UTRGV School of Medicine. The Texas government oversees construction on UT campuses. Nor do the permits include value of land for homes and buildings.
