EdgeCore Planning $1B Data Center

EdgeCore Internet Real Estate, headquartered in Denver, announced plans to build a $1 billion data center in Richardson, TX. The Denver-based data-center campus developer plans to launch construction on a 900,000-square-foot center at Shiloh Road and President George W. Bush Turnpike (SH 190) in summer 2018.

Plans filed with the city of Richardson, a suburb of Dallas, call for two office and data center buildings, measuring 358,000 square feet a piece. An electric substation is also planned for the 33-acre site.

EdgeCore is a $2 billion company created by Mount Elbert Capital Partners, GIC and OPTrust to develop a national portfolio of data centers. In addition to the land in Richardson, the company owns 25 acres in Mesa, AZ, and is under contract to purchase space in Reno, NV. Tom Ray with EdgeCore told the Dallas Business Journal that he expects to acquire land in three additional U.S. cities by the summer.
