Ed Walter Joins ULI as New Global CEO

The Urban Land Institute has a new global chief executive officer. W. Edward “Ed” Walter joins ULI’s executive team, in a position formerly held by Patrick L. Phillips.

Walter will lead the implementation of the newly-approved Global Strategic Plan across three regions in which ULI has a presence, the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific. It seeks to deliver greater member value through technology investments, strengthen and broaden its networks and encourage more philanthropic giving.

Walter was most recently the Steers Chair in Real Estate at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He brings more than 35 years of real estate management experience in capital markets and investments across a variety of disciplines, including hotels, multifamily and land development.

He served as CEO, president and director of Host Hotels and Resorts from 2007 through 2016. Earlier in his career, Walter served as an executive for Bailey Capital Corporation, ZOM Communities and Trammell Crow Residential.
