EBay Motors Team Expands with Cargigi Acquisition
Ebay is boosting its car-buying process with the acquisition of Irvine-based Cargigi, a large provider of advertising and marketing services for car dealers. The move adds leading-edge auto industry technology to eBay Motors, which will eventually replace its existing Dealer Center.
Cargigi’s technology works behind the scenes to efficiently serve up car dealers’ inventory to online customers. The platform provides tools to advertise online, target free classified websites such as Craigslist, post to social media channels, track the effectiveness of ads, monitor competitors, manage inventories and enhance listing photos.
Since its founding in 2009, Cargigi has become a top classified marketing service provider for thousands of dealerships nationally. Terms of what eBay says was a “small” acquisition weren’t disclosed, but 30 of Cargigi’s team will join eBay Motors.
