Eateries to Take Over Former Busch Jewelers
Two restauranteurs acquired the former Busch Jewelers at 250 Cypress St. in Abilene, TX. Justin and Alex Russell, who recently shut down ABI-Haus and Public-Haus in downtown Abilene, plan to turn their newly acquired space into a new restaurant and lounge. It’s not certain, as yet, what the restaurant/lounge concept will be, but the owners say they hope to be open in fall 2018.
Busch Jewelers had been in the building since 1961. The recessed, semi-circular entryway came about in 1972, when the owner acquired the former Connie’s House of Fashion to the north of the building. The jeweler closed in fall 2017.
The Russells acquired the close-to-8,000-square-foot building from Busch & Sons of Abilene Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The assessed value is $209,905.
