Easterly Adds EPA Regional Offices in Kansas
Office REIT Easterly Government Properties acquired a 169,585-square foot Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regional headquarters in Lenexa, KS. Originally built in 2007, the property underwent a large renovation-to-suit for EPA in 2012, receiving LEED Gold and then LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Deal terms weren’t disclosed. The property at 11201 Renner Blvd. in Lenexa is 100% occupied by the EPA under its original 15-year lease, which has a five-year renewal option, thus potentially carrying the term through October 2032.
“Through this acquisition, our portfolio of 67 properties has now earned 19 LEED certifications,” said Easterly CEO William C. Trimble III. “This is a number I am very proud of and look to grow in the years to come.”
Headquartered in Washington, DC, EPA has 10 regional offices across the U.S. EPA Lenexa serves Region 7, covering Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri along with nine Tribal Nations.
