E.ON Launches Construction on Peyton Creek Windfarm
E.ON, an international investor-owned energy company with U.S. headquarters in Austin, began construction on its most recent windfarm, its 24th in North America.
Peyton Creek Windfarm, in South Texas’ Matagorda County, will be a 151-megawatt project that is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2019. Once Peyton Creek is operational, E.ON will have a total capacity of more than 4,000 MW online in the U.S.
The project, which is situated in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) south market, will be powered by 48.32-MW turbines and generate enough electricity to power more than 45,000 homes. Said Matagorda County Economic Development Corp.’s Mike Ferdinand: “This project brings diversification to our local energy sector, and creates new investment that will enhance our tax base.”
