Dutch Chemical Company Signs Houston’s Largest Lease
Netherlands-based chemical company LyondellBasell Industries NV, is moving its U.S. headquarters to the Williams Tower in the Galleria area, vacating the downtown tower it has occupied for decades. The company’s current home, LyondellBasell Tower, is part of the Houston Center campus and is owned by New York-based Brookfield Properties. LyondellBasell said it plans to make the move at the end of 2024 or early 2025.
The company signed a 318,504-square-foot lease in the 64-story Williams Tower at 2800 Post Oak Blvd. CBRE represented LyondellBasell in the deal. The firm also represented the landlord, Invesco Real Estate. The Houston Business Journal says it’s the towns largest 2023 office lease signing to date, narrowly ahead of the one Fluor signed this week, a 308,000 square foot lease at Eldridge Three.
LyondellBasell is one of the largest energy industry employers in Houston with an estimated 1,000 employees in the region.
