Dunkin’ (Donuts) To Beer for Holidays
December 21, 2017 was the darkest day of the year, and to pay homage to the winter solstice, Dunkin’ Donuts crafted a dark brew, leading the donut and coffee shop into beer territory for the second time this year.
The beer, called the DDark Roasted Brew, brings together the Canton, MA-based chain with nearby Wormtown Brewery in Worcester, and uses Dunkin’ Donuts’ Dark Roast Coffee to create a robust flavor. The limited-release brew features “a full-roasted coffee flavor reminiscent of freshly-ground beans with a creamy mouthfeel.”
One of the franchise’s competitors, Starbucks, has been serving wine and beer in select locations for some time, which begs the question that is yet to be unanswered: will 2018 hail in more crossovers between breweries and cafes?
