DTLA Convention Center Hotel Tower Plans 2022 Groundbreak
L.A.’s Sandstone Properties has submitted plans for The Albany, a Los Angeles Convention Center adjacent hotel tower set to rise on a 2.59-acre former industrial site at Pico Boulevard and Albany Street in the historic Pico-Union neighborhood, just west of downtown Los Angeles.
Construction of the Albany is anticipated to last approximately three years, with completion tentatively slated for 2025.
As designed by HOK, the 37-story hotel will replace a vacant warehouse building and include 730 guest rooms and 63,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. The modern glass tower has tiered roof heights leading down to a south-facing podium deck, and will offer an urban plaza with a tree canopy, green space, shaded seating, and retail and restaurant space.
Sandstone Properties is seeking a financial incentive package for the Albany similar those granted to other nearby hotel developments, including the Fig + Pico complex, now under construction.
Connect Los Angeles 2020 is coming up on March 26. It will bring together leading local, regional, and national developers, investors, owners, brokers, financiers and other major players for an afternoon of informative panel discussions, plus networking and cocktails.
