DTLA Continues to Rise in Popularity Among Residents
The Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) released the results of its 7th biennial Downtown LA Survey. The 2020 report showed out of more than 3,600 respondents who participated, 80% of residents are passionate about Downtown LA and 70% feel connected to their community.
Respondents say priorities include having a sense of community; of living close to where they work; and being part of a diverse, walkable neighborhood. In fact, when compared to other popular neighborhoods such as Los Feliz, Silver Lake, and Santa Monica, DTLA was selected as number one in having ‘a lot to do’ by 82% of respondents.
Dispelling the notion that urban environments may not be a good fit for families, the survey results also uncovered that 83% of respondents with at least one child or considering children, love DTLA and 45% felt strongly about staying in DTLA.
DCBID’s Suzanne Holley says, “The DCBID has played a central role in Downtown’s renaissance over the last two decades, the results of which are chronicled in our biennial surveys, and we will continue to play a key role with our soon-to-be-released “Recovery Compass.”
Designed to provide real-time input on sentiments and specific actions which will guide and assist in recovery, the Recovery Compass will also inform those within the Downtown business and residential community on the collective progress being made.
