Drive-In Movie Pop-Up Comes to Lincoln Yards
Add Sterling Bay and its Lincoln Yards mega-project to the roster of participants in the pop-up drive-in scene. With most movie theatres still weeks away from reopening after the COVID-pandemic, Sterling Bay has partnered with the North Side’s for-profit Davis Theater and the nonprofit Facets for the Drive-In at Lincoln Yards.
The pop-up will be designed for 30 to 40 cars per showing, taking up one corner of the 55-acre Lincoln Yards development, the Chicago Tribune reported. “We can really spread the cars out that way,” Sterling Bay’s Julie Goudie told the Tribune, “which allows people to get a real tailgate-style experience.”
Opening Jun 25 with the locally-filmed “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” the drive-in will show movies at 8:30 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. Revenue will be split between the Davis, Facets and participating food vendors.
