DPD’s “Parade of Homes” Initiative Heads for Lawndale

Affordable housing developers interested in building homes in North Lawndale on the city’s West Side are invited to attend an informational meeting hosted by the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) on Sept. 28. DPD is seeking development teams to build affordable homes on 43 City-owned lots throughout the community.

Pursuant to a Request for Applications (RFA) issued on Sept. 19, , DPD will select developers to design, construct, market and sell owner-occupied housing for a future Parade of Homes. Each lot would be sold for $1. Responses to the RFA are due by Nov. 5.

Applicants will build the homes under the City Lots for Working Families program, which aims to build upon the early success of the Third Ward Parade of Homes. While that program was market-rate, the North Lawndale parade seeks developers committed to creating affordable housing.
