Downtown San Diego Welcomes 1,500 New Apartments

The pandemic brought a halt to residential developments in the Downtown San Diego area, but several projects are finally set to open, all within a few months of each other. The complexes, located in the East Village, Little Italy, the Midway District and other areas will add about 1,500 new residences to the downtown region.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the developments are welcome news for the local economy. Betsy Brennan, CEO of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, said the multifamily communities will go a long way in helping small businesses, like cafe’s and shops, that have been hurt by remote schedules keeping workers away from the downtown offices.

Some of the developments scheduled to open in 2023 include the Bevel apartment complex on Barnett Avenue with 405 units; Simone, near Little Italy, with 395 units; 800 Broadway in East Village with 384 units; Radian in East Village with 241 units and Winslow in University Heights with 379 units.
