Downtown Chicago Apartment Rents Skyrocket
Climbing off a low base after landlords slashed rents during COVID, rents for luxury Class A apartments in Chicago’s downtown are sharply higher, jumping 32% last year, while rents for Class B apartments jumped 34%, according to appraiser Integra Realty Resources as quoted in Crain’s Chicago Business.
People who once thought they could afford a downtown address may now find themselves priced out of the masrket and forced to look for space in outlying neighborhoods.
Integra expects rents in the downtown market to continue climbing, rising a further 5% this year.
