Downtown Aerial Tram Could Cost $75M

A proposed aerial tram that would span from Downtown San Diego to Balboa Park could cost between $65 and $75 million, according to a consulting firm. Along Sixth Avenue for a two-mile stretch, most of the costs would go toward stations and support towers, said the firm, Parsons Brinckerhoff.

It also said that ridership could average 3,000 to 4,000 people daily and total up to 1.1 million passengers per year. At the high end, revenue generated could total $4.9 million.

Improvement districts, public-private partnerships and state and federal grants could fund the public transportation addition to the city.
