Douglaston Tops Out on 60-Story Resi Tower in West Chelsea

Douglaston Development topped out construction at 601 W. 29th St., a 60-story mixed-use residential development spanning an entire block on Eleventh Avenue from West 29th to West 30th streets. The 938-unit rental project will bring 703 market-rate and 235 affordable residences to West Chelsea upon completion.

Although this topping out milestone would traditionally culminate with a celebratory lunch for the construction workers, this one will be denoted differently in light of the ongoing pandemic. To mark the occasion, project T-shirts will be made for all members of the workforce to safely acknowledge the project’s on-time progress.

“Coupled with our 2010 completion and opening of The Ohm, located across the street from this property, we’re thrilled to expand our footprint in West Chelsea, and witness the vision for 601 W. 29th St. come to fruition,” said Jeffrey E. Levine, founder and chairman of Douglaston Development.
