Douglas McDonald Tapped for New Leadership Role at SummerHill

SummerHill Apartment Communities promoted Douglas L. McDonald to President of the San Ramon-based apartment, mixed-use infill rental housing developer. McDonald is directly responsible for land acquisition, entitlements, design/construction, asset management, asset disposition and capital markets.

SummerHill Housing Group’s Robert Freed says, “We are fortunate to have achieved significant growth in both our for-sale and apartment-development businesses, even during the pandemic, and we can attribute this to our outstanding executive management team that includes Doug McDonald. Doug has been with SummerHill for nearly two decades and has served in many important roles at the company.”

McDonald has been with SummerHill for nearly 20 years. He previously served as COO and CFO for SummerHill Apartment Communities and CFO for SummerHill Homes. As CFO, he secured nearly $2 billion in construction debt and equity capital. Prior to joining SummerHill Homes, McDonald served at consulting firm Accenture in San Francisco.
