Dogman and Rabbitgirl Bring Art to Midtown

Two sculptures by world-famous contemporary artists Gillie and Marc will visit 1221 Avenue of the Americas from July 2017 to September 2017.

The seven-foot-tall hybrid characters named Paparazzi Dogman and Paparazzi Rabbitgirl sit in front of the Class A office tower. “Dogman and Rabbitgirl symbolize the fight for equal rights, the fight for every kid who’s different, and the fight against bigots who would have us hate another person because of race or religion,” said Gillie.

“I mean, they have animal heads and human bodies, but in spite of that, they’ve been accepted all over the world,” said Marc. The two have collaborated for 26 years.

Their work came to Midtown through the “Love the Avenue Campaign” of the Avenue of the Americas Association. “We are honored that Gillie and Marc chose to install these impressive and striking sculptures on the Avenue,” said Bill Edwards of building owner Rockefeller Group.
