Disused Valparaiso Factory Could Give Way to $120M MXU

The former Anco factory in Valparaiso, IN could soon give way to a $120-million mixed-use project. Flaherty & Collins Properties has been selected by the City of Valparaiso for a proposed development to include over 500 apartments and 12,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

Journeyman Distillery will serve as the anchor tenant, and will rehab a nearly 130,000-square-foot office building. The project also includes 25,000 square feet of commercial office space.

VP Brian Prince of Flaherty & Collins, who will serve as the project’s lead developer, said the development would have “tremendous impact” on Valparaiso and its residents. The project is expected to break ground in late spring or early summer of 2019.

Flaherty & Collins’ proposal, which would incorporate commuter bus service to Chicago, was selected by Valparaiso’s redevelopment commission last week. Anco, a manufacturer of windshield wiper blades, moved out of the facility in the 1960s.
