Disney Breaks Ground on Housing Community, Hotel in Rancho Mirage

It’s called Cotino, a project by Disney on 600 acres of land in the Coachella Valley, that will be the media and theme park company’s first “Community” in the U.S. The development will offer single-family homes and condos plus a hotel and shopping all surrounding a crystal-clear lagoon.

Disney terms the experience for home buyers as Storyliving, where residents can write their own story in the desert oasis. It’s no coincidence that the company chose Rancho Mirage, CA as the location. Walt Disney has roots in the area, and used to bring his employees to the Coachella Valley as a creative outlet.

Home prices have not been disclosed yet, but they go on sale early next year, and the first residents are expected to move in by 2024.
