Dirt Work Underway on Transit-Oriented Development

Dirt work has launched on Plaza Saltillo, a 10-acre, mixed-use, transit-oriented development on Austin’s east side. Upon build-out, the development will hold approximately 800 apartments, 140,000 square feet of office space, 110,000 square feet of retail space, with restaurants, and approximately 1.4 acres of public space.

Austin-based Endeavor Real Estate Group LLC and Columbus Realty Partners Ltd. of Dallas are the developers of the project, located along Interstate 35. Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority owns the land supporting the project. The transit agency, which owned the former rail yard since 1995, signed a century-long lease deal with the developers, and will receive $19 million in rent from the developers in the lease’s first decade.

Construction is expected to be completed near the end of 2019.
