Dirt Work Begins on Vidor Walmart SuperCenter

Dirt work has begun on a 184,000-square-foot Walmart SuperCenter in Vidor, TX. The store will be built on East Tram Road and Main Street, directly behind the 83,000-square-foot Walmart it will replace. The store is expected to open by early 2018, with construction costs estimated at approximately $15.4 million.

The current Walmart at 1350 N. Main St. has been open since 1983. The new Walmart will double employment from 150 to 300 people. In addition, according to Vidor’s mayor Robert Viator, sales taxes can grow by as much as 20% when a Walmart SuperCenter replaces an existing Walmart store.

The new store will provide a full grocery, deli and bakery, a full-service pharmacy, garden center, tire and lube express, as well as retail offerings including toys, soft goods and sporting goods.
