Dirt Work Begins on 100K-SF MXU in Baton Rouge

Site work has begun on the $30 million City Square, a 100,000-square-foot, mixed-use development at Bluebonnet Boulevard and Highland Road in Baton Rouge, LA. Developer Kevin Nguyen is building the complex, which will offer 75,000 square feet of retail, with the remainder given over to office space.

Nguyen bought the 17-acre parcel in two phases, acquiring 13 acres in 2007 and the remainder in 2015. He had the acreage rezoned several years ago to light commercial, with plans to begin City Square in 2008. Then the recession hit, but Nguyen believes now is a good time for the development.

The development is anticipated to begin going north during Q1 2017. Charlie Colvin with Beau Box Commercial Real Estate is handling leasing for City Square.
