Direct Energy LP signed a lease for its new corporate headquarters at 2 Houston Center. Under terms of the deal with owner Brookfield Properties, the tenant will take down 105,578 square feet on the sixth and seventh floors, as well as space on P1. The company plans to relocate from its current location in (get this) to its new space in April 2021.

Doug Little, David Baker, Kelli Gault, and Jack Scharnberg of Transwestern, and Clint Bawcom of Brookfield Properties represented the landlord. CBRE’s Brandon Clarke, Paul Penland, Ryan Roth, Josh O’Rear, and Mark Reilly advised the tenant.

In January, Brookfield announced plans for a major redevelopment of Houston Center, including a new central plaza and greenspace, monumental stair connection to landscaped terraces, two-story glass façade, and re-clad skybridges. Renovations began in February.
