Dimensional Fund Advisors Renews at Prime Santa Monica Property

Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA) renewed its 36,000 square-foot lease at 1299 Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica. The deal covers the ground level and the fifth floor at the 11-story, 206,840-square-foot Class A office building owned by Douglas Emmett.

DFA has occupied the property since the early 1980s. The building features unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean, and is located in walking distance to downtown Santa Monica and an abundance of amenities. The building also houses DFA’s West Coast Forum space, which hosts thought leadership conferences for advisors, clients and employees several times a year.

CBRE’s Jacob Bobek and Scott Steuber represented the tenant.

Bobek says, “A lot of our clients with expiring leases are thinking hard about staying put in spaces they are already in,as opposed to trying to find new quality locations in such a low-vacancy environment.”
