Dick's to take vacated Nordstrom space at Dadeland Mall

Dick’s Taking Over Dadeland Mall’s Nordstrom Space

One of the largest sports retail chains in the U.S. has filed permits to build a new big box department store at Dadeland Mall (see photo).

Dick’s Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) submitted plans with Miami-Dade County for a new 147,066-square-foot store at 7239 Kendall Drive where a Nordstrom department store once operated. Nordstrom closed 16 stores due to slumping sales during the Covid pandemic.

Dick’s Sporting Goods signed a seven-year renewable lease with SDG Dadeland Associates, Inc., part of Simon Property Group.

Founded in 1948 as a bait and tackle store, Dick’s Sporting Goods inventory expanded to include sports and outdoor equipment and athletic apparel. As of July 29, Dick’s Sporting Goods operated 860 stores across the U.S. Those stores include specialty brands such as Public Lands, Dick’s House of Sport and Going, Going, Gone! The company reported earning $548.96 million in consolidated income in the first six months of 2023.
