Dick’s Takes Space at Renovated Mall

Dick’s Sporting Goods has signed for space at what was once the Rhode Island Mall. The sporting goods retailer is joining BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse as the latest tenants at the 225,000-square-foot property at 650 Bald Hill Rd. in Warwick, RI. The tenants opening dates were not disclosed.

MCB Real Estate and Acadia Realty Trust own the property, which has not yet been renamed, and began the process of “de-malling” it in 2015. Acadia said 30,000 to 40,000 square feet is still available at the center. The space will contain six to eight retailers, according to Acadia’s Christopher Conlon. He added that the retail center should be stable and operating in 12-24 months. Other tenants include Burlington Stores, Walmart, Kohl’s and Sears.

Rhode Island Mall opened in 1967 as the Midland Mall. It was the first, two-level mall in Warwick.
