Dick’s Okayed for Forney Shopping Center

The Forney City Council approved a site plan for a 60,000-square-foot Dick’s Sporting Goods store at the 143-acre Villages at Gateway development in Forney. The 820,000-square-foot complex is being built by StreetLevel Investments at U.S. Highway 80 and North Gateway Boulevard.

The Dallas Business Journal reports that Phase One of the center is anticipated to open in summer 2026 and feature anchor tenants, including H-E-B, Target, and Home Depot, which opened its doors earlier this month. The 134,425-square-foot store is the 185th Home Depot location to open in the state and will generate about 150 jobs.

The second phase of the Village at Gateway will develop an additional 200,000 square feet and include 650 multifamily units. Evo Entertainment, the entertainment venue, is expected to employ about 200 part-time workers within three years of its operation.

The City of Forney granted StreetLevel Investments an economic development package totaling more than $34 million in incentives. As part of the deal, StreetLevel is required to invest a minimum of $195 million and generate at least 200 jobs within 36 months of construction completion.
