DFW is No. 2 Target for CRE Investment

A recent survey of commercial real estate investors ranked Dallas-Fort Worth as one of the top two target markets in the United States for investment, trailing only Los Angeles/Southern California. The CBRE Americas Investor Intentions Survey 2018 also noted that DFW, a “Tier II” region, beat out Tier I cities New York, Seattle and San Francisco/Northern California as attractive places for property investments.

“This survey confirms an important shift in investor interest from established core markets to markets with high-growth fundamentals,” said John Alvarado, senior vice president, CBRE Capital Markets’ Institutional Properties. “This trend should benefit Dallas, which remains as one of the nation’s highest growth markets. Our on-the-ground experience so far this year confirms an uptick in interest by first-time buyers in Texas.”

Overall, when it came to favored asset types nationwide, industrial proved to be the preferred property investment, with multifamily coming in second place. Meanwhile, 14% of investors indicated they would invest in office product in 2018.
