DFW Airport & American Airlines Agree to Spend $3.5B on Terminals Expansion

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and American Airlines shook hands on a tentative deal to build a sixth passenger terminal, and to overhaul Terminal C, which hasn’t been renovated for 20 years. The price tag on the capital improvements, if approved by the DFW Airport and American Airlines’ boards, would be $3.5 billion.

Terminal F, tentatively scheduled to open by 2025, will eventually have up to 24 gates. Airport officials previously indicated that the new terminal would not be the same horseshoe shape of the other five, and likely won’t include a parking garage.

The airport handled 69 million passengers in 2018, and the number could hit a million more passengers by 2023.
