DFW Airport/American Adding $1.6 Billion Terminal
It’s already one of the worlds biggest airports; the size of Manhattan. And today it announced it is getting much bigger. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is moving forward with a long-awaited sixth terminal. The $1.6 billion first phase will include Terminal F with 15 gates initially, with construction starting in late 2024 and finishing by 2026.
The Fort-Worth Star Telegram reported that DFW and American Airlines officials announced $4.8 billion in construction projects over the next 10 years. The airport also will invest $2.7 billion to expand and modernize other terminals including reconstructing the rest of Terminal C, which has been in its original state since the airport was built 50 years ago. Construction on Terminal C will be over three or four phases, fully completed in 2028.
The Metroplex’s astronomical growth is driving demand to expand DFW. The airport expects 78 million travelers this year; within the next six or seven years, DFW expects to serve 100 million people a year.
