Development Plans Unveiled for Hotel on Lavaca
HRI Properties LLC filed an application with the city of Austin to build a 214-key hotel at 1620-1624 Lavaca St. The .2-acre site in the CBD currently holds a parking lot. So far, the Austin Design Commission agreed that the hotel has met the city’s urban design guidelines.
Though the construction timing or hotel flag aren’t yet clear, the permitting application noted that the New Orleans developers wanted to build to 220 feet, up from the current 120-foot limitation. The ground floor would include a 1,900-square-foot restaurant with outdoor seating. There will be no parking; off-site valet parking would be used.
Big Red Dog Engineering is the civil engineer, Gensler listed as the architect and DPR Construction the general contractor, with TBG Partners the landscape architect. MK Developments currently owns the land, but told the Austin Business Journal the property is under contact.
