Development Plans Unveiled at Former Riverside Sears Store
Riverside Property Owner, LLC, a partnership between Foulger-Pratt and Seritage Growth Properties, has unveiled a proposal for a mixed-use project at the site of the former Sears store on Arlington Avenue in Riverside, CA.
According to The Press-Enterprise, the preliminary plans call for 25,000 square feet of commercial space, including a potential grocery store and various shops as well as 27 two- and three-story buildings consisting of 388 multifamily housing units. A dog park is also planned.
While some of the locals have a fondness for the former Sears and would like it preserved in some way, Foulger-Pratt said they actually looked into the idea, but decided against it. In addition Riverside is under pressure from state officials to boost its housing stock by the end of the decade.
The proposal still has to undergo an environmental study, approval from the Cultural Review Board and then the ultimate decision by the Riverside City Council.
