Developers Target Fort Monmouth
In early January, RPM Development bought 117 historic homes at Fort Monmouth, with plans to renovate them for rent and sale. It’s the first sale to developers at the decommissioned US Army base by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority, which took control of the last large piece of the 1,126-acre site in Monmouth County, NJ, in November.
But it won’t be the last, as five additional sites in the fort are under contract. The property’s two sections, Charles Wood and Main Post, house more than one million square feet of existing buildings and dozens of development sites.
“We continue to see strong interest from developers and organizations looking to be part of Fort Monmouth’s next chapter,” said Les Smith for Cushman & Wakefield, exclusive marketing agent for the site.
