Developers Begin Construction on La Cantera Heights

More than a year after announcing plans for La Cantera Heights, CSW Development and USAA broke ground on the retail project’s first phase, a 35,000-square-foot building. The nine-acre initial phase is at Interstate 10 and La Cantera Parkway, near the mixed-used Rim development, in San Antonio.

New tenants for the development, which is expected to be completed by summer 2020, will include restaurants La Panaderia, Thirsty Lion and Burgerim, along with Redlands Grill.  JLL is handling leasing on the property.

JLL’s Barry Haydon told the San Antonio Express News that the project isn’t dependent on big-box stores, but rather, on daily, neighborhood needs. Furthermore, the developers are targeting first-to-market businesses. The Thirsty Lion, a grill chain headquartered in Portland, OR, will open its first San Antonio location at La Cantera Heights.
