Developer Sought for San Bernardino’s 5th Street Gateway Project

Connect Retail West is set for January 25th at the Hurley Surf Club Pacific City in Huntington Beach, CA. Here’s where to get more information and register.

The City of San Bernardino is seeking a developer for a planned 5th Street Gateway Project. The vacant 6.5-acre parcel in downtown is immediately east of Interstate 215, and considered a key component of efforts to revitalize the downtown area.

The city intends the northeast corner of the site, at 5th and H Streets, to be developed with uses that work well with an adjacent In-N-Out Burger restaurant, while another portion of the land is envisioned for senior housing. The site could also be enhanced by the completion of a land assembly effort that the former redevelopment agency was prevented from finishing.

The 27-parcel project site was previously acquired by the former San Bernardino Redevelopment Agency, and the city has subsequently moved forward to sell it for future development. Letters of interest are due by Jan. 31. The city seeks to have a development agreement in place by July.
