Developer Proposes 850K-SF Tower in San Jose
Museum Place Owner, a group led by Gary Dillabough, is proposing an 850,000-square-foot office tower with 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurants in downtown San Jose. The site is part of the Museum Place development, and was originally envisioned as a 250,000-square-foot building.
Dillabough told the San Jose Mercury News “The idea is to really make this a world-class development, and to make this a world-class office tower that would appeal to a high-tech tenant.”
The project originally included plans for an office building, hotel and residences, as well as ground-floor retail and the Tech Museum expansion. The latest plan eliminates the hotel rooms and residences, though the Tech Museum expansion and the ground floor retail remain.
The new tower could rise 19 stories, and if height restrictions due to the location near the San Jose airport can be eased, the developer would like to increase it to as many as 21 stories.
