Developer Looking at Business Park near Austin Samsung Factory

Quannah Partners is not the first and will not be the last company to try to capitalize on the $17 billion Samsung chip plant going up in Taylor. The company wants to turn 69 acres into an industrial park not far from the plant.

Quannah Partners LLC’s plans for the Park79 Commerce Center were on the town council’s latest agenda. The developer is seeking to create a public improvement district (PID) to help fund an estimated $10 million in infrastructure improvements for the site, located along U.S. Highway 79. The Council voted to accept the petition and scheduled a public hearing for the PID for next month.

Quannah has proposed three buildings at the site totaling about 357,000 square feet that would have an estimated value of $75.4 million at full buildout.

The Austin Business Journal reports Samsung is deep into construction on a 6 million-square-foot facility on a 1,200-site near the former intersection of County Roads 401 and 404 that is expected to open next year.
