Charlotte apartments expected to cost $50M to build

Developer Eyeing South End for 263-Unit Apartment Complex

Avery Hall is seeking Mecklenburg County approval for a 263-unit apartment project at 2801 S. Tryon St. in the South End. The Charlotte Business Journal expects the project costs to reach $50 million.

The 418,230-square-foot development will include 1,200 square feet of ground-floor retail, a two-floor coworking cafe and lounge, a fitness center with outdoor fitness lawn, a fourth-floor pool courtyard, an eighth-floor sky lounge and a pickleball court.

The firm acquired the 2.5-acre parcel in August 2018 for $8.7 million.

Avery Hall recently delivered One NoDa Park mixed-use development at 110 E. 36th St. The 383-unit multifamily project was developed in partnership with Aria Development Group and Bridge Investment Group. Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. will be on the main floor, with a 21,258-square-foot store set to open this summer. The firm acquired 4.2 acres there, paying $13.2 million across two transactions between October 2020 and February 2021.
