Developer Departs from $375M Project

Yacht builder Viking Development withdrew as master developer of the $375 million Riviera Beach Marina redevelopment. An article in the South Florida Business Journal The marina facility owner was unable to finalize a contract with Riviera Beach’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).

According to CRA executive director Tony Brown, Viking’s core business is manufacturing yachts, rather than mixed-use planning. “We were expecting a proposal but Viking came up with a new plan that was inconsistent with land use on Broadway,” Brown said.

Viking spent a decade working with the Riviera Beach city officials to produce a renovation mixed-use plan, which included shops, restaurants and an event center.
