Detroit Pistons $65M Training, Rehab, Sports Medicine Complex Launched
The Detroit Pistons and Henry Ford Health System broke ground on a more than $65-million dual sports medicine and team headquarters-practice facility in Detroit’s uptown. Construction of the 175,000-square-foot Henry Ford-Detroit Pistons Performance Center is anticipated to be completed in summer 2019.
Palace Sports & Entertainment, the team and city envision the state-of-the-art complex to serve as a “catalyst” for further redevelopment in the New Center neighborhood at Second Avenue and Amsterdam Street, as well as the surrounding area. The connected facility will allow players access to team medical practitioners tending to injuries and providing rehabilitation.
Detroit-based Platform LLC is developing the project, while Rossetti is designing the facility. The facility was part of a deal to bring the NBA basketball team back downtown this season and play at Little Caesars Arena.
