Desi Brothers to open 4 Austin-area India themes grocery stores

Desi Brothers to Land in Leander

Another grocery chain is eyeing a number of locations in Austin. H-E-B and Tom Thumb have opened a number of stores of late and the latest is Desi Brothers, a grocery store chain that emphasizes products from India and the Middle East. It expects to break ground soon on a store in Leander. The store will be at 1520 Arrowfeather Pass. It’s scheduled to open in March of 2025. The Leander location will be split into a 15,000-square-foot grocery store and a 4,000-square-foot Indian restaurant. Construction is estimated to cost $7 million.

The Austin Business Journal reports the Leander store will be its fourth store in Austin. Another one is under construction in Round Rock. The Round Rock store will be 48,000 square feet.

Leander had an estimated population of more than 74,000 residents as of 2022, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, up more than 25% since 2020.
